We all need a little out of this world romance in our lives
Dubai has to be one of the best cities for romantic restaurants, we have everything, from stunning, intimate locals such as Caramel Bar & Restaurant located in the trendy DIFC to Michelin star locations with some of the best food in the world, notably STAY by Yannick Alléno at The One & Only Hotel.
Everybody deserves a little bit of romance in their lives. To give you some ideas for a lovely evening out, here are my recommendations for the most striking and unique spots for young lovers in Dubai.
Above the clouds
I recently witnessed a rather special engagement, in the world’s highest bar. A young man proposed to his delighted girlfriend, who said yes! It happened at one of Dubai’s most famous bars and restaurants At.mosphere and I have to say, it was incredibly romantic.
At.mosphere is on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa and has one of the most spectacular views, especially at sunset, a completely unobstructed vista across the whole city. I highly recommend this bar, not only for its panoramic view, but also its delectable and sophisticated décor and cocktail menu.
I am particularly partial to a whisky sour. Even though not on the menu the expert cocktail waiters are always happy to make one. A truly memorable experience, which I recommend you share with a loved one.
Under the waves
The Atlantis Hotel is always a popular date destination. When you pass under the bridge towards the palm it feels as if you are leaving for a private island destination.
There are many great restaurants to choose from, but for a unique date then you really must go to Ossiano. There are few places in the world where you can dine by the light of a floor to ceiling aquarium. The atmospheric mood lighting and dappled light reflecting from the water create an intimate and elegant atmosphere.
Coupled with the stunning seafood menu, fresh from the sea. You can gaze into each other’s eyes, momentarily distracted by the vibrantly coloured fish and enjoy being serenaded by the excellent live singer.
The heart of the city
Sometimes you may feel in the mood for a lively city based date. If this is the case then Karma Café in the Souk Al Bahar is for you! This beautiful pan asian style restaurant incorporates subtle mood lighting and deep wooden tones with super modern decorations. Gilded birdcages are suspended from the ceiling and the entrance is lined with illuminated Buddhas.
During the winter reserve a table out on the balcony for your date. You’ll see the Burj Khalifa in all its shimmering glory as well as the spectacular Dubai fountain show.
This restaurant really has it all, a sultry atmosphere, eclectic Asian menu and some of the best entertainment around.
