Festive Eid al Fitr 2017

In Dining to Tell

Fasting or not, Eid is a highlight of living in the Middle East. Although a lot of people use the holiday to travel, staying behind has its charms with all the festive events happening around town!

If Ramadan is like Christmas, then Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha are like New Year’s Eve. All those stunning outfits you’ve seen in shops during Ramadan are now actually worn to celebrations marking the end of the fasting month, and families and friends gather to feast together and revel days that include festive coffees, breakfasts, brunches and lunches, and not just the suhoor and iftar that you’ve seen everywhere the last month.

A lot of people use it as an opportunity to travel, typically having 4 or 5 days off with a weekend added on. People from the region go home to celebrate, whilst expats use it to get out of the sweltering heat and humidity. But staying behind has its charms. The month of Ramadan has a certain intimate festiveness to it, and Eid is the all-out celebration. Here are some of the brunch, lunch and dinner options for a festive Eid! Eid Mubarak!

The Grape Escape at Hilton JBR (AED 149 per person)

Go on a European evening of discovery, with different theme nights every day for a week starting from the 26th, including raclette, paella, cheese fondue, pasta and tartiflette. Celebrate Eid with a festive dinner that doesn’t include humous and ouzi, as you, like us, will have had your share of those during the last month!

Liwan at Al Ghurair Rayhaan (AED 179 per person)

Get the best of everything for a decadent festive Eid celebration with a big buffet serving international and regional specialities, as well as a number of live cooking stations, and also get a sharing platter of freshly grilled meats!

You may know that Ewaan is one of our personal favourites, for its stunning décor, extensive buffets and fabulous food. For Eid al Fitr, indulge in a festive lunch or dinner buffet and satisfy every craving you have. The selection of dates alone is mind boggling, so we have no idea how we are going to survive dessert.
