The best time of year is here. The weather is cooling down and Thanksgiving, Christmas and NYE will come and go in the blink of an eye. But first – Halloween!
Halloween is thought to have started as part of some of the harvest festivals in the UK, although others believe it started as a Christian thing, referring to the remembrance of the dead, including Saints and martyrs as well as relatives and friends. There are different traditions around the world, but in most places Halloween involves costumes, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving and bonfires. For us though, it’s just another reason to party! And there’s no better place than Dubai for such a party.
Given the 31st this year falls on a boring Tuesday, most events have been scheduled for the Friday before, the 27th but there’s events on other days as well. Here are some of the best ways to spend Halloween in Dubai this year! And remember, if you’re in costume you usually get a discount.
Wild Wadi – On Fridays and Saturdays throughout October, as well as on the 31st, Wild Wadi is trick or treat central. It’s a treasure hunt for sweets and surprised throughout the park, for which you get a map when you buy your tickets.
IMG Worlds of Adventure – From Friday the 13th onwards, the theme park opens its doors to a Biohazard themed Halloween event every Friday until early Nov, with lots of zombies and entertainment as well as a Haunted Hotel. Tickets are sold in combination with a normal access pass for the park and separately.
Desert Palm Halloween Weekend, Desert Palm – Desert Palm is hosting a Halloween themed weekend, starting with a spooky wine and cheese night on the 26th and a special brunch on the 27th including entertainment for the kids. So why not make it a stay-cation with the family?
Bongo’s Bingo, Media One Hotel (AED 100 pp) – Sometimes something so bad can be so much fun. Bongo’s Bingo is one of those things, on the 26th of October at ON42 at Media One. Expect chaos, sarcasm, shitty prizes and dance offs and if you’re in a costume you stand a chance at winning prizes.
Latitude, Jumeirah Beach Hotel (AED 550 pp) – Latitude’s brunch will be Halloween themed on the 27th with lots of entertainment for the kids as well as a themed buffet and of course scary decorations. Wear a costume because there are prizes for best dressed.
Candypants Mega Brunch, Habtoor Grand (395 AED pp) – Voted as one of the best party brunches of Dubai, you are in for a hellish feast at Candypants from 1pm to 4pm on the 27th of Oct. More than 800 brunchers, lots of DJ’s and live acts and an after party at Habtoor’s XL Club until 9pm. Oh and a drink here and there.
Maison Mathis, Arabian Ranches (AED 495 for 2) – This is a slightly more stylish way to spend Halloween with canapes, BBQ and drinks free flowing. It’s a 70’s and 80’s Halloween so bring out your vintage costumes and stand a chance at winning a prize.
Al Qasr (AED 650 pp) – The Gi-normous brunch spanning The Hide, Arboretum and Al Hambra as well as lots of drink- and live-stations will be Halloween themed on Friday the 27th. And if you show up in costume you get a whopping 30% discount on the bill.
Fiesta de los Muertas, Autism Rocks Arena (AED 350 pp) – A huge Halloween fest with a star-struck line up of Gorillaz, Carly Rae Jepsen, Stormzy, Massari and The Mariachis. So don your scary costume and face paint and head out to the Dubai Al-Ain Road on the 27th to spend the evening in some scary company whilst dancing to great music.
Haunted Hotel, Fairmont the Palm – Fairmont is serving up a Halloween evening brunch on the 31st at Flow Kitchen with a themed spread and drinks. There’s also a high tea at Mashrabiya Lounge from 3pm to 6pm with prizes for best costumes.
Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Address Marina (AED 450 pp) – Ruth’s Chris is hosting a traditional murder mystery party on the 31st. In addition to lots of steak and wine, you will be given clues and a story that should help unravel what really happened in 1965.
Aji, The Palm – Everyone’s favourite Aji is celebrating Halloween on the 31st of Oct. It’s called Supper at the Haunted Mansion and you should expect a special themed menu, Halloween styled cocktails, DJ’s mixing it up and staff (and you!) in costumes.
Lucky Voice, Grand Millennium Barsha – Lucky Voice’s Ladies Night has turned horrific this year, bringing to life some of the best horror movies. The unlimited free drinks, discounts on food and free karaoke are not bad either.
Dusty’s, DIFC – Dusty’s is transforming the traditional Ladies Night on Tuesdays to a special Halloween night on the 31st. The ladies still get a great deal, but if you’re dressed up you get at least a free drink. There’s discounts on food as well. On the 3rd the Friday brunch is Halloween themed as well, so make sure your costume survives the week.
