Dubai Sunset

These restaurants are the perfect places to spend dusk

The Dubai skyline is always impressive. Uniquely designed buildings, beautifully lit with the towering Burj Khalifa standing tall in the centre. Most people who live here are comforted by the sight of this remarkable building as they drive home. However, driving in your car is hardly the most interesting way to view the spectacular Dubai sunset. This must be done with a glass of wine in hand and a delicious meal in front of you.

The following are my favourite places to watch a Dubai sunset.

The Observatory at Marriott Harbour Hotel

Located on the 52nd floor of the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel, The Observatory has a panoramic view of the whole of JBR. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed. It’s a great place to spend a slow evening just watching the world go by and the sun wind its way across the sky.

Pure Sky Lounge at Hilton JBR

This bar not only has amazing views of the walk on JBR but you can also sit and watch the skydivers gracefully floating across the horizon. Pure Sky lounge is one of my favourite places to spend a Saturday afternoon, enjoying a spiced Mojito with a completely unobstructed view of the sky going from a bright blue to dusky orange. Very romantic!

Tortuga at Mina A’ Salam

The Mina A’ Salam hotel is beautiful and peaceful with a touch of Arabian Nights. Its Mexican themed restaurant Tortuga, has the perfect outdoor seating location. You can enjoy a blood orange Margarita with delicious delicacies such as Aguachile Ceviche and Ensalado Mercado, whilst watching the Dubai sunset, complete with the idyllic sight of the Abras lazily winding their way through the Madinat canals.

Dubai Sunset

Karma Café at Souk al Bahar

The Burj Khalifa and dancing fountains are a must see, especially at sunset. And, what better place to do it than from the super chic Karma Café in the Souk Al Bahar. Great cocktails, eclectic Asian food and opulent surroundings, make the perfect setting for a date or chilled evening with friends.

Nineteen at The Address Montgomerie Dubai

Nineteen at the Montgomerie golf course is a stunning escape from the city, whilst still being in the heart of Dubai. A contemporary Italian restaurant with dishes expertly prepared by the renowned chef Alessio Pitzalis, you can sit drinking in the bucolic surroundings, the bright green of the golf course, the hazy colours of the Dubai sunset reflected in the lake.

40 Kong at H Hotel Dubai

If you love the city-skyline then 40 Kong on the top floor of the H Hotel is an urban dream. An elegant cocktail bar, with sultry mood lighting, you can stand with Martini in hand, making casual conversation and watch the cityscape come alive as the Dubai sunset goes down.

Catch at St Regis Corniche, Abu Dhabi

As spectacular as the Dubai skyline is, the Abu Dhabi Corniche is simply stunning; a long ambling, tree-lined path along a tranquil beach. The famous fish restaurant Catch with its gourmet cuisine, modern interior design and bustling terrace. This is a great place to while away the late hours of the afternoon on the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
